2024 was particularly rewarding for Savoir-faire Linux. We had the opportunity to take part in key events accross the Energy and Embedded sectors. We have built new partnerships and strenghtened our position in Open Source communities. We also had the pleasure to sponsor two events this year, the LF Energy Summit and Montréal Python.
In this article, we share highlights from our presentations and the different projects we’ve contributed to.
LF Energy SEAPATH
As the main contributor to the LF Energy SEAPATH project, we are keen to share our work during our international conferences :
February, at FOSDEM in Brussels, Paul Le Guen de Kerneizon gave a general presentation about the SEAPATH project, the work carried out around the implementation of IEC61850 latency test for source station protection algorithms.
At the same event, Erwann Roussy and Camilo De Arriba, Senior Substation Automation Manager at General Electric Vernova, showcased their work demonstrating SEAPATH’s performance during a real-world electrical grid fault scenario. Then, they delved deeper into the details of their presentation « Deploying a Virtual IED on LF Energy SEAPATH, Advices and Experience Feedback »
We regularly take part in events focused on our core business, Embedded Linux.
Yocto Project
During the EOSS in Seattle, our Web Practice Leader Mohammed Raza gave two lectures about the Yocto project. The first one was about « the Yocto project development with VSCODE : boosting your productivity » providing tangible benefits by showcasing how a VS Code extension can be used to provide a modern coding experience for Yocto Project developers.
In April, we attended Embedded World in Nuremberg, Germany where we showcased our expertise and partnerships. We also provided support at the Yocto Project booth, reinforcing our commitment to the embedded systems community.
Savoir-faire Linux team also present at the Yocto booth
Jérôme Oufella and Eloi Bail discussed the growing importance of cybersecurity compliance in embedded systems development, especially with the emergence of stricter regulations. They emphasized the need to integrate these requirements throughout the development process to ensure software compliance. The talk also highlighted Savoir-faire Linux’s long-standing partnership with Toradex and the key role of Torizon—an open-source industrial Linux distribution—in meeting rigorous standards like IEC 62443.
Savoir-faire Linux proudly served as a main sponsor of Montréal Python, a monthly conference series covering diverse Python-related topics. In November, Serosh Deljam presented « Computer Vision with Python for Embedded Systems », showcasing our expertise in this domain.
